Temporal
The Temporal parameter list is one of the EC Parameter Groups available in the Check Parameters and Scan views for Electrochemistry modes. Although this list is available for all modes, the specific options on the list and the ideal settings will change depending on the microscope type and imaging mode.
Temporal function
- Determines which current or current-related quantity is plotted on the vertiacal (y) axis of the lower temporal graph in the Electrochemistry window. The x-axis of the temporal graph is always Time.
- Range or Settings:
- Current: Cell current is plotted as a function of the working electrode potential.
- Cur Dens: Cell current density is plotted as a function of the working electrode potential (current density is Current divided by Electrode Area).
- Log Cur: The log of the cell current is plotted as a function of the working electrode potential.
- Lg Cur Dens: The log of the cell current density is plotted as a function of the working electrode potential.
- Charge: Integrated current (charge) is plotted as a function of the working electrode potential.
- Chrg Dens: Charge density through working electrode (integrated current density) is plotted as a function of the working electrode potential.
I range
- Controls the vertical (y-axis) scale of the temporal graph.
- Units vary depending on Temporal function setting:
Current |
µA |
Cur Dens |
µA/cm2 |
Log Cur |
log (µA) |
Lg Cur Dens |
log (µA/cm2) |
Charge |
mC (1 through 1000) |
Chrg Dens |
mC/cm2 |
Volt range
- Sets the voltage range along the vertical (y) axis of the upper temporal graph in the Electrochemistry window.
Time range
- Sets the time range of the temporal graphs (horizontal, x-axis)
- Range or Settings: 10 through maximum time.
NOTE:
- Time range is limited to the maximum time that can be stored (see Sample Rate).
- The time range may be changed at any time to display the most recent data at any resolution.
- If the plot fits in the time range, the left edge is 0 (zero) seconds. If the plot reaches the right edge of the graph, the current and voltage plots shift left one division of the graph (Chart Recorder mode).
- The time limits on the graph are incremented to show the new limits.
